Msheireb Museums Design Competition

Msheireb Museums is launching this competition for designers to create unique gift item designs that will be retailed in the Msheireb Museums gift shop.

The invitation is open to designers, innovators, students, and the general public who are residents of Qatar and has an interest in the development of new unique gift items that may be commercially sold at the Msheireb Museums gift shop.

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility

The competition is open to designers, students, innovators, and the general public age 18 and above and must hold a valid Qatar Residency Permit and Qatar ID.

As a condition precedent for eligibility, the Participant agrees and accepts the Terms and Conditions related to and in connection with Intellectual property rights and is aware of the provision of law No. 9 of 2002. You can find the Terms and Conditions Here.

Theme

The design of a unique souvenir product that represents Msheireb Museums and/or Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Assessment Criteria

Submitted designs will be evaluated under the following criteria:

  1. Uniqueness.
  2. Use of Msheireb Museums and/or Msheireb Downtown Doha concepts, with creativity in development of the design.
  3. Design of product.
  4. It is an essential requirement that the project has not been submitted to other competitions.

Registration

To complete the registration for this competition, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Valid Qatar ID.
  2. A Maximum of 3 product designs may be submitted by the same participant.
  3. A design proposal that contains a detailed description of the concept with suggested measurements.
  4. Each design proposal should include a maximum of 10 images or drawings of the product.
    (pieces and assembly) with all details and technical data submitted as a PDF file.
  5. All submissions shall be made in either Arabic or English languages

Deadlines
  • Registration is open from 15 September – 30 November 2020.
  • Jury Selection (Phase 1) from 1 December – 7 December 2020.
  • Artists may be requested to submit further details about their designs from 8 December – 22 December 2020.
  • Jury Selection (Phase 2) from 23 December – 30 December.
  • Verdict and Awards will be in the second half of January 2021.

Prizes

1st Prize 15,000 QR
2nd Prize 10,000 QR
3rd Prize 5,000 QR
Designers will also have their name acknowledged on all sold merchandise of their designs.

Jury

The jury will be made up of members of Msheireb Museums and Msheireb Properties from various professional backgrounds, including the following sectors: Museums, Design, Retail as well as a member of Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar. Jury decisions acknowledged fair, final and not subject to appeal.
