Description

Abdullah Ibrahim was born and raised in Kirkuk, Iraq, to a farmer family of their own land. He describes the city of Kirkuk during his childhood as an ideal place where Arabs and Kurds, Christians and Muslims, lived in peace and harmony in their neighborhoods. However, the situation changed with the start of the war between Iraq and Iran when Ibrahim was recruited into army to defend Iraq.

After the war, he left Iraq to escape political tensions until he ended up as a professor of Arabic literature in Libya and then moved to Qatar. During his journey between these countries, Ibrahim’s memories of his homeland keeps recurrent, as does his sorrow for the successive waves of violence sweeping his homeland.
