This Science Café will explore the safety and real-world use of prescription medications and dietary supplements. In an era of increasing self-medication, growing supplement use, and personalized pharmacotherapy, there is a need for clear, evidence-based communication between healthcare providers, patients, and the public.
- We aim to foster an open and interactive dialogue that bridges clinical practice, research, pharmacy, and public health. The proposed discussion themes are:
- Drug Interactions and Adverse Effects: Recognizing and managing risks, particularly in polypharmacy and special populations.
- Supplements: Evaluating the efficacy, safety, and regulation of vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.
- Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Dosing: The role of genetics in tailoring medication choices and dosages.
- The Evolving Role of Pharmacists: Expanding contributions to patient education, chronic care, and community health.
